Colleagues,

The certainty of the Second Law of Thermodynamics seems to be well rooted in our experiences and psyches.  Given that I had to take thermodynamics a few times, I had it thoroughly installed in my brain.  Further, my view of cars in Michigan serves to convince me that rust wins and the Second Law is in full force.

Iraq Good News

OK, I took Jonathan's advice and did a couple hours of reading off of sites found by Googling "Good news Iraq".

This was really refreshing.  Franlky, I'm very impressed with the number of good things happening in Iraq.  I am even more convinced that the liberal media has been full of lies from the beginning.

In general these stories are about the dull details of making things work and restoring a country that has suffered 30 years of violent oppression.

Here are a few of the sites I visited:

American citizens - what worries me about this president of yours (and more, about his vice president), is that after examination of the available data, i find a large number of reasons to think he should NOT be president, but almost none in his defense.

one of my fellow catholics (JS) seems to think he's alright, which worries me - one of us has to be very, very wrong.

can you please inform me, (honestly!) why i should NOT intensely dislike all that GWB and Cheney stand for?

this is an honest request for info. Thanks!

Careful.  Don't choke on the irony.

Destroying human life in the hopes of saving human life is not ethical...

Twould be nice to have a viable candidate with a consistent ethic regarding the value of human life.  I haven't seen it.

Rare Kotanchek Sighting

That rarest of species, the Kotanchek, was spotted at Cafe American today.  I hear that it was the second such recent sighting.

ENOLA GAY - HISTORY

Here is a bit of American history which has yet to reach the history books. Its an interview by Studs Terkel with Paul Tibbets, the pilot of the B-29 which dropped the first atom bomb; fascinating.

Studs Terkel: We're seated here, two old gaffers. Me and Paul Tibbets, 89 years old, brigadier-general retired, in his home town of Columbus, Ohio, where he has lived for many years.

Paul Tibbets: Hey, you've got to correct that. I'm only 87. You said 89.

Hey Guys, I'm reading the pope's new book, and it's a really nice read. I am amazed by his deep knowledge and his kindness. He explains some things very well, kind of ab-initio, so that the book should be equally readable by evangelicals and catholics alike. I'm not very eloquent in my praise, but i guess you get the drift.. Smiling
